The Process

What to Expect

Healing rarely travels in a straight line, and that's okay. There will be breakthroughs, and there will be harder days. Setbacks and moments of relapse are a natural, expected part of the process, not signs of failure. Therapy with Khawla honors the full journey, meeting you with compassion wherever you are, and gently helping you find your footing again and again, for as long as it takes.

Foundational Concept

Window of Tolerance

Understanding your "Window of Tolerance" is key to managing stress and emotional regulation. This concept helps us visualize the optimal zone where we can effectively cope with life's challenges without feeling overwhelmed or shut down.

When you're within your window, you feel present, grounded, and capable. Therapy helps you expand this window, build resilience, and develop strategies to return to this optimal state when life pulls you out of it. We learn to recognize the signs of hyperarousal (like anxiety or panic) and hypoarousal (like numbness or dissociation) and gently guide ourselves back to a place of balance.
